For the Test and Answer Key:
The Test and Answer Key did not need to be updated, so we didn’t update them.
If you already have The Test and Answer Key, you need not buy a new copy.
We changed the front cover to match the other Revised Edition colors because we like things to be matchy-matchy.
Is there an upgrade path to transition from the Original edition to the Revised Edition? No “upgrade path” is required. We have carefully revised the content in such a way that the Revised Edition can be used in conjunction with the Original edition and vice versa.
Can I use my Original edition Text/Activity with the Revised Edition Activity book/text? (The same answers apply to the Test and Answer Key.)
Yes, you can use Revised Edition Activity Book with the text of the Original edition.
Yes, you can use the Original Activity Book with the Revised text.
We changed the wording of the text in two places, so a couple of review questions will have a different answer.
Can I listen to the new audio with the old book/ vice versa? 99% yes, there are just a couple of corrections in the new audio/book and those will be listed on our Corrections page prior to shipping. When you go to the Corrections page, click on the History and Geography tab at the bottom of the page, and then scroll down until you see a dark green bar--that’s where The Story of the World, Volume 3 corrections begin.
When will the Revised Edition come out? The Story of the World, Volume 3, Revised Edition will be available for purchase through Amazon and other major outlets on February 25, 2020. They became available from our website on February 6, 2020. The PDF versions will be available only through our website. If you would like to be notified of the earliest purchase opportunity (which will be from our website) you can sign up here to receive our newsletter.
How will I know which version I’m buying? The front cover will say “Revised Edition,” and the cover illustration will be a Native American woman looking away from you. The Original edition has an illustration of a Native American man.
If I bought the Original edition (PDF or printed), can I get a complementary copy of the Revised Edition? Unfortunately, we cannot make that offer. But we have minimized any major changes to the text so you can use a combination of Revised Edition books and Original edition books seamlessly.
Can I buy the Original edition at a discount? When we release the Revised Edition titles, we will offer the remaining stock of the Original edition at a discount. We will not reprint the Original edition titles. Once we’re out, we’re out.
Will the prices go up? The prices did not go up for the first printing. If they do go up, we will update the information in this article and on our website.
Once you ship the Revised Edition, can I still order the PDF of the Original edition? No. The differences are so small that a classroom using both the Original and the Revised Editions will easily be able to follow along with the reading.
Will you offer the Revised Edition in the same formats?
Yes. If we have offered a .pdf or .mp3 or paper format for the Original edition, we will do so for the Revised Edition, and the same with all the other formats.
The .mobi and .ePub formats will be available from Amazon (.mobi for Kindle) and iTunes and Google Play, who sell the .ePub formats. These two formats will not be sold from our web store.
All the other formats will be available from our webstore, and the .pdf and .mp3 files will be available only from our web store.
The audiobook for The Story of the World, Volume 3 is taking a long time to download. What do I do? Questions about the Activity Book
Which editions of the Usborne and Kingfisher History Encyclopedias do you provide cross references for? We updated the page references to reflect the most recent editions of these books, though in 90% of cases, the page numbers didn’t change (in other words, you should be fine no matter which edition of these encyclopedias you use!)
Kingfisher History Encyclopedia: 3rd revised edition
Usborne Internet-linked Encyclopedia of World History: 2009 edition (has a knight in armor on the front cover, holding a sword, with flames behind him)
Usborne Book of World History: 2008 edition
Kingfisher Illustrated History of the World: 1993 (it hasn’t changed)
Is there an alphabetical version of the booklist? No, not right now. But if we hear from enough people we might create this offering. In the Revised Edition, the book lists will be listed in chronological order in each chapter.
Is there a place where I can get the whole booklist? No, not right now. But if we hear from enough people we might create this offering. If this is something you would like us to consider, tell us how you would use it--would you want it in alphabetical order? chapter order? Is this something you would want to carry with you? Would you want it in a format you can modify or is a printed list adequate? The more we know about what you want, the better we can serve you. You can send your suggestions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Questions about the Test and Answer Key
I have the new Test and Answer Key but an old Text and Activity Book (or vice versa old/new). What do I do? You can use the old/new with the new/old editions. The content is completely compatible between them. The only change for the Test and Answer Key is the cover.
Is there a video that describes the updates? Why, yes there is. Thank you for asking. https://youtu.be/jCGG1JiNNyk
